The Central Jakarta Water Resources (SDA) Sub-agency is building a new water channel on Jalan K.S Tubun Raya, Petamburan, Tanah Abang.
Central Jakarta SDA Sub-agency Head, Mustajab said the channel is built to follow up on a request by Jakarta Parks and City Forest Agency, as the area in front of the Petamburan Public Cemetery (TPU) does not have a channel.
He expressed the work has been ongoing since April 27, 2023. "It is done by involving eleven workers plus a heavy excavator and a dump truck.
"This channel is being made up to 87 meters long with a u-ditch construction measuring 60x60 centimeters," he explained.
He targets to complete it by the end of this May.
"It aims to accommodate water in large quantities when it rains. After the channel is done, we'll cover it with a concrete slab as pass access for pedestrians," he stated.
